Josephine Yardley-Thompson is a British artist, currently living in the south west of France.

She is inspired by human form, movement, the features suggestive of places, structures and architecture, their place in space and time and the interplay of colour, light and shade. It is the intensity and mental images of her experiences that form the basis of her work presented as contemporary and semi-abstract paintings.

Typically she works in mixed-media employing materials to add texture, shape and form, at times adding memory, evoking emblems or impressed symbols and text and invariabley she employs a variety of techniques to apply paint.

Whilst the works she creates derive from inspiration based on her own ideas and experiences, it is the viewer who completes the cycle by interpreting the colours, shapes and form in their own particular way. It is a very individual experience and it is that personal enjoyment and shared excitement in her paintings that she enjoys and continues to want to achieve.
